A figure lies on the pavement of a Los Angeles street, the image ambiguous enough to be read as sleep, collapse, or performance, the city continuing its business around them with the American city's characteristic indifference to the individual. The American Mirage includes this image as its most uncomfortable: the gap between the dream and the pavement is, sometimes, exactly this. From the series.
